Bayer Foundation Women Empowerment Award (WEA), in collaboration with the Impact Hub Network, is a dynamic tribute to women entrepreneurs who are driving transformative progress.
This accolade goes beyond simply acknowledging their achievements; it is a commitment to providing assistance to women who are spearheading advancements in health, nutrition, and other climate-smart solutions. We are in search of 15 outstanding winners (5 from each region) to participate in the Accelerator Programme, which spans over 6 months. Together, we are actively shaping a future that is inclusive and fair for everyone.

- Launch Your Dreams – 7th Feb – 27th March: Applications open to all visionary women entrepreneurs (check criteria here).
- Pitch Your Vision – April: 30 Selected finalists will be coached to pitch their ideas to a jury.
- Spotlight in Berlin – 4th – 6th June: The 15 winners will attend the Award Ceremony in Berlin and join Bayer Foundation’s Social Innovation Days.
- Accelerate Your Impact – June – December: Kick-start your impact journey with the 6-month Acceleration Programme.
What are the requirements for eligibility?
The Women Empowerment Award aims to support women entrepreneurs who are driving impactful solutions in the Global South region, specifically Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. In order to qualify for the award, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1) Women business leaders:
The applicant must be a woman in a leadership position, such as a (co)-founder or C-level executive, within the company. Other leadership positions within the organization may be filled by males.
2) Sustainable business/financing model:
Organizations of any legal entity type are eligible to apply, as long as they demonstrate a strong business mindset and do not rely solely on grants, donations, subsidies, etc. as their source of income.
3) Impactful solution in health, nutrition, and/or climate-smart solutions:
Applicants must offer a solution that addresses issues related to health, nutrition, and/or climate-smart solutions. This can include solutions in areas such as food, agriculture, and water. Stand-alone climate-smart solutions will not be accepted; they must be related to health and nutrition.
4) Social or community impact:
Solutions should aim to have a positive impact on Low or Middle-Income Communities. The acceptance of higher product/service prices before economies of scale is allowed.
5) Impact in the Global South:
The business must drive its impact in low- and middle-income countries in Africa, Asia Pacific (excluding Australia & New Zealand), Latin America, or the Middle East. It is preferred that the business is registered in the Global South.
6) Revenue-generating and limited funding:
The business should be generating revenue and have received a maximum of one million USD in funding. The annual revenue should be between 0 USD and 1 million USD.
7) Strong personal drive and commitment:
Applicants should demonstrate a strong personal drive and commitment to their business and its impact.
