The Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 offers a unique opportunity for a young leader to receive support and resources to address the pressing climate and health challenges faced by young people today. The selected non-profit organization will be awarded a grant of US $50,000 and the winner will also have the chance to attend the prestigious 2024 One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, with a fully-funded scholarship. Additionally, the winner will benefit from mentorship by AstraZeneca and participation in a development program through the YHP’s Impact Fellowship.

Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 Eligibility

• To be eligible for this opportunity, the applicant must be a young leader between the ages of 18 and 30,
• working for or leading a non-profit organization.
• They should demonstrate a strong drive and determination to make a positive impact on global health.
• The proposed solutions should be innovative and have the potential to be scaled-up for greater impact.
• The projects should also focus on closing the equity gap by providing healthcare access to marginalized young people, while incorporating elements of environmental sustainability and stewardship.
• A locally-led, rights-based approach that prioritizes vulnerable and marginalized youth is essential.

Advocacy plays a crucial role in driving positive change, and applicants should emphasize local and/or national advocacy approaches that aim to engage decision-makers and policy-makers. The ability to influence legislative change is highly valued.

Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 Criteria

• Applicants from all eligible countries are welcome to apply for this scholarship.
• They must demonstrate a positive impact related to leading climate and health equity projects that benefit youth between the ages of 10 and 24.
• Proficiency in English is required, as well as access to the internet and a device to participate in online Fellowship sessions.
• It is also important that the applicant is able to fully participate in-person at the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, from September 18th to 21st, 2024.
• Commitment to a one-year Fellowship program and the ability to lead and manage the implementation and reporting of the non-profit project funded through the Fellowship are also necessary.
• Applicants must be founders or leaders of registered non-profit organizations that meet the specified criteria.
• This is an incredible opportunity for young leaders to make a significant impact on the world and contribute to a healthier future for all.
• Have been in operation for a minimum of three complete years.
• Have generated a total income of over USD$100,000 but less than USD$2,000,000 in the previous fiscal year.

Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 Prizes

The successful solution will be awarded:

– A scholarship to attend the One Young World Summit 2024
– A grant of $50,000 from AstraZeneca
– 12 months of mentorship from a group of AstraZeneca professionals and partners. The mentors will assist in advancing your solution according to the specific needs of your initiative or organization, including areas such as business strategy, data collection best practices, monitoring and evaluation, and product design.

The winning individual and their solution will also gain:

– Access to Networks: Involvement in the 2024 One Young World Summit and Ambassador Network, as well as membership in an Alumni group of other young changemakers dedicated to youth health.
– Access to Development: Structured learning and development opportunities to help you expand your impact, featuring self-directed and live learning options. This includes access to the One Young World Academy, a renowned mini-MBA program, and professional training.
– Access to Funding: All Fellows are required to oversee a community project aimed at enhancing youth healthcare access in their area. The chosen organization will be granted US$50,000 to support this project.

Lead2030 Challenge for SDG 3 Timeline:

– March 19: Application deadline
– May 8: Winners will be announced
– May 22: Deadline for acceptance paperwork. Upon selection, candidates will be asked to sign the acceptance paperwork, which includes individual confirmation of participation at the One Young World Summit in Montréal and the organization’s agreement to the grant terms and conditions.
