What is the Opportunity? – Youth Advisory Board Member of AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective
The Youth Advisory Board Member of AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective is a collaborative initiative co-funded by the European Union and executed by Oxfam, Restless Development, Search for Common Ground, Youthmakers Hub, and ComDev Africa. This four-year project aims to foster a society that is more responsive to and inclusive of youth. The initiative is supported by five partners who bring together their expertise in youth-led and youth-informed initiatives, addressing critical aspects of Agenda 2063, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the AU-EU partnerships from a youth-centric viewpoint.
The AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – PoC targets youth aged 15 to 35 from diverse backgrounds, including those residing in remote areas and those who are Not in Education, Employment, or Training (NEET). The initiative aims to engage 8,000 youth civil society groups across Africa, Europe, and the African Diaspora in Europe, as well as enablers and decision-makers from the AU and EU, including governments, civil society organizations, and corporate entities.
Who Are We Looking For? – Youth Advisory Board Member of AU-EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective
We are seeking to recruit members for the Youth Advisory Board. Our mission is to empower young individuals from marginalized and vulnerable communities, who frequently face obstacles in accessing power and resources.
- The following criteria will be considered:
- You demonstrate enthusiasm for collaborating on action-oriented activities organized during continental influencing events (for instance, if participating in a significant summit or conference related to the AU, EU, or the AU-EU partnership, you will attend our parallel meetings or engage in our coalition efforts).
- You are committed to serving on the Youth Advisory Board for the entire duration of the project (3.5 years).
- You are an active young advocate affiliated with a youth-led organization, collective, group, or movement, whether formal or informal.
- You show respect for the diverse identities of others, trust in their knowledge and abilities, and maintain an open mindset towards differing views and opinions.
- You can leverage your own knowledge and experiences as a young leader to foster social change in one or more of the following domains: youth-led development, governance, education, gender, environment, climate justice, employment, health, rights-based initiatives, community development, and advocacy.
- Experience in grant management or budget oversight is advantageous.
- You are aged between 15 and 35 years.
- You possess a working proficiency in English and/or French.
- You currently reside in one of the countries where the project is being implemented: Burundi, Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Sudan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Tunisia, or Belgium.
