P4G is currently inviting applications for partnerships focused on climate mitigation or adaptation initiatives within the sectors of food, energy, and water. Each partnership must include at least one early-stage business and one nonprofit organization operating in one of P4G’s ODA-eligible partner countries, namely: Colombia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Kenya, South Africa, and Vietnam.
Applicants for the P4G Partnerships for Early-Stage Climate Solutions Businesses are required to offer services or products that aid in poverty alleviation, promote gender equity, and foster economic growth in one of the following sub-sectors: climate-smart agriculture, food loss and waste reduction, water resilience, zero-emission mobility, and renewable energy.
Awards and Prizes – P4G Partnerships for Early-Stage Climate Solutions Businesses
- The successful P4G partnerships will receive grants of up to $350,000 to implement in a period of 18-24 months.
Eligibility – P4G Partnerships for Early-Stage Climate Solutions Businesses
To be eligible for the P4G Partnerships for Early-Stage Climate Solutions Businesses to submit a concept note and undergo evaluation, applicants are required to fulfill all ten specified criteria. Further information regarding these eligibility criteria can be found in the Partnership Guidelines.
- Partnership commitment: Must include at least one early-stage climate enterprise and one nonprofit administrative collaborator.
- Experience and track record: Should exhibit comprehensive knowledge, skills, and expertise across their partners in areas such as country, sectoral, policy and regulatory environments, as well as business, financial, social, environmental development, and grant management.
- Sector and countries: Projects must be implemented in P4G’s ODA-eligible partner nations, focusing on sub-sectors such as climate-smart agriculture, food loss and waste, water resilience, zero emissions mobility, and renewable energy.
- Investability: Should be at the seed or post-seed financing stage, possessing a solid business plan and a clear strategy for commercialization or capital acquisition.
- Enabling system: Must demonstrate a thorough understanding of the policy and legal/regulatory frameworks in the country of implementation.
- Additionality: The climate business solution should be innovative, significantly enhancing the current standards within the industry and the relevant country of operation.
- Impact: Must illustrate contributions to climate change mitigation, economic growth, poverty alleviation, gender equality, and overall development.
- Budget: Should incorporate a cost share of at least 30%, which cannot be in-kind, and must align with mandatory activities and budget line items.
- Responsible business conduct: Activities must not fall under P4G’s exclusion list, and the applicant must either present an existing ESG plan or include a strategy for its development.
- Due diligence: The two leading institutions must demonstrate their capability to fulfill organizational due diligence requirements.
