Apply now for the Global Landscapes Forum GLF Africa Photography Awards (Up to $900 Grant)
We are excited to introduce the GLF Africa Photography Awards otherwise known as the Global Landscapes Forum Africa Photography Awards. Whether you are a professional or amateur photographer, we are eager to view your photographs capturing the vast landscapes of the continent in all their magnificence.
Our goal is to display captivating images of Africa’s diverse populations and their lifestyles across its different terrains. Therefore, prepare your cameras and capture your finest shots of tropical forests, grasslands, drylands, peatlands, wetlands, the ocean, coasts, and African livelihoods.
Submissions will be open until 29 July. Finalists will be revealed by mid August, and the winners will be announced on 13 September. The top photographs will be exhibited at the GLF Africa 2024 Hybrid Conference and featured on the GLF’s Flickr page.
Prizes – Global Landscapes Forum Africa Photography Awards
- Cash prizes of USD 400 (1st place), USD 300 (2nd place) and USD 200 (popular vote).
- A spread and interview on ThinkLandscape.
- A showcase at the GLF Africa 2024 Hybrid Conference.
Eligibility – GLF Africa Photography Awards
- The GLF Africa 2024 Photography Awards are open to anyone aged 18 or above, whether you’re a photo enthusiast or a professional photographer.
- By submitting your photo, you agree to follow the rules, terms and conditions of these awards.
- Photos that have previously won other photographic awards will not be considered.
How to participate – Global Landscapes Forum Africa Photography Awards
- To participate, upload your photo here.
- Each photo constitutes a single entry.
- The uploaded file must include the photo’s title, and the contributor’s name and the contact information, including email address, social media handles (if applicable) and a caption listing the subject and location.
Selection – GLF Africa Photography Awards
- Creativity (30%)
- Photographic quality (30%)
- Composition (30%)
- Execution of theme (10%)
The GLF will release the finalist submissions on its digital platforms. A panel of judges will determine the first and second prize winners from the finalists, while the public will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred submission online. The submission with the highest number of votes will be presented with the ‘popular vote’ accolade. It is guaranteed by the GLF team that the first prize, second prize, and popular vote winners will be chosen from different participants.
Finalists – GLF Africa Photography Awards
In September, the GLF team will send an email to all finalists, requesting them to create a brief video message discussing their photograph and project. The top videos will be showcased in our art gallery at GLF Africa 2024.
