The aim of the Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa Project is to tackle gender inequality and promote inclusive economic empowerment for women in Africa. Specifically, the Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa Project seeks to enhance the capacity and sustainability of organizations that support Women-led Small and Medium Enterprises (WSMEs), while also improving access to mentorship, funding, and visibility for these enterprises.

Increased investment readiness through capacity building for Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa WSMEs

In recent years, numerous promising entrepreneurship support programs (ESOs) have emerged across the continent, including incubators, accelerators, university-based innovation hubs, maker spaces, technology parks, and co-working spaces. These initiatives are designed to foster the development of more sustainable and successful startups that contribute to Africa’s economy. Nevertheless, the support provided by these enablers to WSMEs is often constrained by insufficient funding, limited network access, and a lack of well-positioned services. That is where the Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa comes in

The Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa is looking for WSME’s and Enablers that are operating in at least one of the following countries:

Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Ivory Coast, Ethiopia, Angola, Mali, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Botswana, Sierra Leone, Ghana, Gambia, Namibia, Cape Verde, Mauritius and Nigeria.

Women-led Small and Medium Enterprises’ WSMEs should apply for the Enhancing Women Entrepreneurship for Africa if they are:

Enablers should register for the Women-led Small and Medium Enterprises WSMEs if they are:

  • Based in one of the above countries
  • Enhancing the viability and sustainability of WSMEs,
  • Providing innovative approaches to ecosystem support designed to close the financing gap for WSMEs,
  • Introducing innovative ways to provide capacity building for WSMEs,
  • Providing digital presence and visibility to WSMEs,
  • and Enhancing access to mentorship for WSMEs.
