The KSH Foundation, in collaboration with Tomorrow Foundation and EHA Impact Ventures, launched Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa, an initiative focused on tackling the obstacles encountered by female founders in the entrepreneurial sector. This program highlights a united effort to empower and assist female entrepreneurs throughout Africa, with a particular emphasis on Nigeria and its neighboring West African nations.
Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa is a comprehensive initiative aimed at offering extensive support to female entrepreneurs by utilizing the resources and expertise of three distinguished organizations. The KSH Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to using technology to bridge social divides in Nigeria, partners with Tomorrow Foundation, a Swiss charitable organization dedicated to enhancing living conditions in Africa through technology, skills development, and international collaboration, as well as EHA Impact Ventures, a philanthropic impact investing firm that supports early-stage, high-impact, female-led enterprises across Africa.
The objective of the Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa is to provide guidance and invest in African+Women-led early-stage companies with high growth potential in emerging industries. The Program can be divided in four main steps
Eligibility Criteria – Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa
The selection will be done based on Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa criteria. These criteria include:
- African company
- Female founder of CEO
- Tech-enable business
- 18-35 age bracket
- Monthly gross revenue of not less than $500
- Unique Value Proposition
- Operation of business not less than 6 months
- Maximum 20% of selected companies will be Fintechs
- At least 15% of selected companies will be from Francophone Africa
BENEFITS – Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa
1. Training – Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa
- The applicants selected will perform an intensive 4-month training from the Founder’s Institute accelerator program.
- Costs of the training will be covered by the program and founders will receive an allowance in stages during the training.
- The applicants who successfully complete the Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa training will get a certificate and will be eligible to apply for funding.
2. Funding – Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa
- The remaining start-ups will pitch their business model to the program Investment Committee to obtain a funding of 5,000 USD in average.
- The funding will be a convertible revenue based financing.
3. Mentoring – Her Startup program For Female Entrepreneurs in Africa
- The funded start-ups will be provided a 1 year mentoring from seasoned entrepreneurs and experts with monthly meetings and ad hoc requests.
