Apply for the Zayed Sustainability Prize Fund For Global Sustainability Pioneers ($5.9m in Prizes)
The Zayed Sustainability Prize is funded by the Abu Dhabi Government to pay tribute to and carry forward the legacy of sustainability and humanitarianism established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the United Arab Emirates. Masdar, the renewable energy company of Abu Dhabi, oversees the management of the Zayed Sustainability Prize.
Throughout the year, a committed team diligently works on organizing the Prize. The Zayed Sustainability Prize recognizes excellence in six different categories.

- Food
- Energy
- Water
- Climate Action, and,
- Global High Schools
Eligible Regions
- The Americas (North and South)
- Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)
- Middle East & North Africa (MENA)
- Europe & Central Asia
- South Asia
- East Asia & Pacific
Prize- The fund is $5.9 million, distributed thus:
- Health $1,000,000
- Food $1,000,000
- Energy $1,000,000
- Water $1,000,000
- Climate Action $1,000,000
- Global High Schools $900,000
Application
- Students are required to submit the application, which should be endorsed by the school management.
- The projects should fulfill the following requirements:
– Showcase how they meet the three evaluation criteria: impact, innovation, and inspiration, as explained in the Evaluation Criteria section on this page.
– Have the potential to be implemented and operational within a timeframe of one to two years.
– Provide benefits to the school community and/or their local/regional community for an extended period of time. - In each of the six global regions, one school will be awarded up to US $150,000.
