The World Bank Treasury Summer Internship Programme is a junior professional training initiative aimed at cultivating the skills essential for a dynamic and fulfilling career in the financial sector.

This program seeks to attract outstanding college students who have shown a keen interest in pursuing a financial career, thereby supporting the World Bank’s development objectives. The internship serves as a stepping stone to a Junior Analyst position, a two-year role within a Treasury team, which interns can transition into upon graduation from their degree program. Candidates should be in their penultimate year of a four-year college degree program.

The Internship – WORLD BANK TREASURY SUMMER INTERNSHIP

The World Bank Treasury Summer Internship Programme will engage in a full-time commitment for ten weeks, from May 27 to August 4, 2025, in Washington, DC. Interns will undergo a tailored onboarding experience during the first week, followed by three three-week rotations across various Treasury teams.

Throughout the summer, interns will participate in weekly discussions with the program director and attend a series of career perspective talks featuring Treasury officers, managers, and directors. They will have the opportunity to connect with nearly 300 Treasury employees, including the Vice President & Treasurer. Each rotation culminates in a presentation to the respective teams, and the internship concludes with a capstone project presentation to the management team.

The Interns – WORLD BANK TREASURY SUMMER INTERNSHIP

  1. Interns are engaged on a temporary short-term contract and receive compensation ranging from $21.30 (net – for non-US Citizens) to $26.00 (gross – for US Citizens) per hour for a total of 400 hours.
  2. All interns are required to be present in person, working full-time in Washington, DC, throughout the duration of the internship (from May 27 to August 4).
  3. While HR policies may evolve, interns are anticipated to work a minimum of four days per week in the office.
  4. Each intern will be provided with a World Bank laptop at the commencement of the internship.
  5. The World Bank will facilitate the necessary visa for any incoming intern who requires it to work in the United States.

The Work & Teams

This World Bank Treasury Summer Internship program will recruit up to 16 interns across the 16 teams within the Treasury this summer, with each intern experiencing a distinct rotation schedule designed to foster a diverse and enriching experience. The Treasury is organized into four primary departments: Asset Management & Advisory, Capital Markets & Investments, Treasury Operations, and Pension & Endowments, along with the Treasury Risk, Compliance, and Controls team.

Throughout their internship, each intern will be assigned a mentor and coordinator for each rotation to offer guidance and support. Interns will undertake specific projects or tasks as assigned by their respective teams at the beginning of each rotation. We strongly encourage candidates to learn more about our organization, each department, and the 16 teams involved.

Eligibility – WORLD BANK TREASURY SUMMER INTERNSHIP

We ask that all applicants meet the following core eligibility requirements to be consistent with the program’s goals. Applicants for the World Bank Treasury Summer Internship Programme must have these core requirements to be considered.

  1. Must be enrolled in the second-to-last year of the equivalent of a four-year college degree program with a demonstrated interest in finance, business, economics, or a related field;
  2. Must be prepared to graduate with the equivalent of a four-year college degree between December 2025 and September 2026;
  3. Must be in good academic standing at their college or university;
  4. Must be available full-time through the duration of the internship;
  5. Must not have a concurrent employment contract or internship.

Any candidate who is found to have misrepresented their application may be disqualified or terminated.
