Apply for the WIPO Global Awards for exceptional enterprises and individuals making smart use of intellectual property
The WIPO Global Awards recognizes outstanding enterprises and individuals who effectively utilize intellectual property for commercialization while also making a positive impact on society through their innovation and creativity.
This annual contest is open to applicants from WIPO’s 193 Member States and various economic sectors. Originally focused on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the contest introduced a new category for startups in 2024. Furthermore, there are plans to incorporate additional categories in future editions of the program.
To be eligible for the Awards Program, SMEs must meet the following criteria:
1. Be a registered business entity with proof of registration.
2. Have no more than 300 employees and up to 15 US$ million in total annual sales.
3. Hold at least one registered intellectual property right.
4. Export products or services to at least one country.
Winners of the WIPO Global Awards will receive the following benefits:
1. Travel to Geneva to attend the Awards Ceremony and special events (funded in accordance with WIPO’s rules).
2. A specially designed WIPO Trophy for this Program.
3. Customized intellectual property mentorship opportunities, taking into consideration the winners’ business background and specific needs on a case-by-case basis.
Additionally, winners will gain promotion, visibility, and recognition through the Awards ceremony, a dedicated WIPO Awards webpage, WIPO media, and other external intellectual property-related media.
