Apply for the Johns Hopkins Healthcare Design Competition for Student Teams
The 2024 Johns Hopkins Healthcare Design Competition is now accepting applications! This competition is open to student-led teams from all countries and academic fields who have designed a health-related solution. It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills in healthcare design. The winners will be those who demonstrate a strong understanding of the problem, the people affected, and provide a practical real-world solution.
There are four competition tracks to choose from:
1. Designs of Solutions for Advanced Health Systems
2. Global Health/Humanitarian Design
3. Healthcare Apps/Digital Health
4. Post-Surgical Infection Management
Eligibility
- To be eligible, your project must focus on a healthcare application in one of these tracks and have been started after January 1st, 2022.
- The project must also be driven by full-time students, excluding postdoc research projects.
- Additionally, projects that have received significant funding (over $100K) or are not run by full-time students (such as startup companies or faculty-led projects) are ineligible.
- Full-time students working towards undergraduate, masters, doctoral, and professional degrees (such as MBA or MD) are eligible to participate.
- It’s important to note that project teams should consist of more than one full-time student. If you have multiple unique projects, feel free to submit them all!
- Format
The Design Brief should not exceed 2 pages, including any figures. References can be listed on a separate page. - Please use Arial, Helvetica, Palatino Linotype, or Georgia typeface, with a black font color, and a font size of 11 points or larger. You may use the Symbol font for Greek letters or special characters, but the font size requirement still applies.
- The type density, including characters and spaces, should not exceed 15 characters per inch. The type should not exceed six lines per inch. Please use the standard paper size of 8 ½” x 11”. Ensure that there is at least a half-inch margin (top, bottom, left, and right) on all pages. No information should be placed in the margins.
- Figures, plots, and/or photos are highly recommended, but they will count towards the page limit.
- References can be included on a separate page and will not be counted towards the two-page requirement.
Timeline:
– February 12: Submission of two-page proposals
– March 18: Finalists will be informed
– April 13: Final round (virtual event)
