Benefits:

1. You will have the chance to participate in a traineeship lasting up to 6 months within the Regional Cooperation & Trade Sections of the EU Delegation to Nigeria, starting in mid-June 2024.
2. During your traineeship, you will divide your time between the Regional Cooperation Section (OPS4) and the Trade & Economics Section (T&E).
3. The Regional Cooperation Section is responsible for managing regional programs and the relationship with ECOWAS. These programs cover various sectors such as peace & security, transport, energy, trade, maritime security, blue economy, agriculture, and more. The geographical scope of these programs may vary but generally includes the broader West Africa region, all ECOWAS member states, and the Gulf of Guinea.
4. The Trade & Economics Section is responsible for monitoring trade and economic relations with Nigeria. This includes analyzing and reporting on developments in these sectors within Nigeria and occasionally in the wider West African region.

Main tasks:

1. – Conduct research and analysis on key trade and economic developments between the EU and Nigeria.
2. – Review regional trends and the programs and activities carried out by the international community.
3. – Contribute to the programming, identification, and evaluation of programs and projects in close collaboration with beneficiary institutions in the ECOWAS region.
4. – Prepare reports on regional events and contribute to sector analysis.
5. – Assist in monitoring the implementation of projects and the performance of project managers and partners.
6. – Attend public events and meetings with ECOWAS and prepare reports on these engagements.

Important information to read before applying

1. Before applying examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
2. Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

4. Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not

6. The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation.
