The FCMB Agritech Hackathon and venture building program aims to promote and enhance the agricultural sector by providing support to agritech enterprises in addressing industry-specific challenges. This initiative includes a hackathon, where participants will receive assistance in developing their innovative ideas and solutions, followed by a venture building program that offers selected teams funding, mentorship, and resources to effectively build and scale their solutions. This initiative is backed by FMO and executed by Heave Ventures.
The 2024 FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program, supported by FMO, seeks to discover, nurture, and develop early-stage businesses throughout Africa.

The project will unfold over a period of six months, divided into two primary phases:
1. Hackathon
2. Venture Building Program

This six-month FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program comprises a three-month Hackathon culminating in a prize-giving event, followed by six weeks of Venture Building sprints and an Investor Day featuring a documentary premiere. These components are designed to equip high-impact innovative AgriTech startups with essential business and product development tools necessary to refine their solutions to agricultural challenges and attract subsequent investments.

Eligibility Criteria – FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program
To be eligible for the FCMB Hackathon and Venture Building Program 2024, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Stage of Idea:Your business idea should be in the early stages of development.
- Team:You should have a team with a mix of skills and experience relevant to building an Agritech business. This could include experience in agriculture, technology, business development, and marketing.
- Passion for Agriculture:You should have a strong passion for agriculture and a desire to make a positive impact in the industry.
- Commitment:You should be committed to participating fully in the program and working hard to develop your venture.
- Legal:Be a legally registered company either as a business name or limited, individual teams of hackers are also encouraged to apply to the hackathon.

The winners of the FCMB Agritech Hackathon and Venture Building Program will receive cash awards, mentorship, etc., including qualification for the venture building program where the top teams will receive funding, office space, etc.
