Apply for the Afri Women Innovation Grant ($5,000 grant)
The Afri Women Innovation (AWI) Grant, part of the EquiHER initiative, aligns with the United Nations SDG and aims to support African women with promising business ideas or existing companies in Africa. In 2023, the AWI Grant will provide entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and financial support of $5,000 to 500 women across the African continent.
No matter the size of your idea, whether it’s small or already established, we firmly believe that even the tiniest idea has the potential to create significant change. And if you have a substantial idea, it can go even further. Your business idea doesn’t have to be groundbreaking; what truly matters is its ability to bring positive change to you and your community.
Criteria
- Applicants must be females and aged between 18 and 50 years
- Citizenship must be from any of the 54 African countries
- Candidates must have Proficiency in English, French, or Portuguese
- Applicants business ideas must be for implementation within Africa
- Existing companies operations must be in Africa, and a female shareholder must have a minimum of 50% ownership holding in the company

- Filteration. Our Grant committee meticulously evaluates submissions, selecting applicants aligned with our objectives while regretfully unable to proceed with others
- Pitching. Shortlisted applicants participate in a comprehensive pitch involving media presentation and business planning.
- Endowment. Successful applicants are paired with mentors and receive a $5,000 financial grant to bolster their business initiatives.
