Apply for GET.invest Finance Catalyst Program for RE projects in Sub-Saharan Africa

The GET.invest Finance Catalyst connects financiers with projects and companies. It focuses on small- and medium-scale sustainable energy opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and the Pacific region. The team offers advisory support in investment strategy, business case structuring, and accessing finance.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for support from the GET.invest Finance Catalyst, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Investment size: The total investment size over a period of approximately 5 years should be significant enough to benefit from professional independent transaction advisory services. These services should add value to the client and be appreciated by financiers. The Finance Catalyst advisors’ expertise should complement the client’s internal resources.

2. Focus on clean energy solutions and business models: The main focus of the project should be on clean energy systems, such as renewable energy or energy efficiency. Innovative themes are also encouraged.

3. Revenue generating: Proposals must be designed to generate revenue and meet minimum economic viability and sustainability requirements.

4. Location: Applicants must be located in (or plan to use the funds in) sub-Saharan Africa, the Caribbean, and/or the Pacific region.

5. Focus on private sector: Eligible applicants can include private sector developers (local and international), NGOs, universities, parastatal companies, government or research institutions. Projects should ultimately have significant private-sector ownership to allow for financing options like debt or equity. Other funding sources, such as grants or public-sector contributions, can also be considered. Private-sector engagement can be developed during the advisory support.

Application Process

The GET.invest Finance Catalyst accepts applications throughout the year. They are evaluated in cycles of three to four weeks, and applicants will receive feedback after each evaluation cycle.
