Apply for Alstom Foundation Grant Program 2024
The Alstom Foundation Grant Program invites applications to back and finance projects that aim to enhance living conditions and economic opportunities for communities near Alstom’s facilities worldwide. These projects are initiated, presented, and backed by Alstom employees in collaboration with expert partners, seeking to create a positive impact on the local surroundings. The Foundation collaborates closely with local or global NGOs with a track record of successfully implementing projects on the ground.
The Foundation’s objectives include sharing Alstom’s achievements and knowledge, promoting and acknowledging the citizenship and dedication of Alstom employees, and establishing a strong relationship with local communities to give back to those affected by their operations.
Alstom Foundation Grant Program Focus Areas:
1. Socio-economic development: This encompasses various aspects such as establishing sustainable industries and job opportunities, providing training and skills development, improving health and hygiene standards, managing waste effectively, and ensuring access to nutritious food sources. The Alstom Foundation has supported initiatives in these areas while also preserving the cultural heritage and natural environment of partner communities. In 2018, the Foundation decided to concentrate on two specific categories within the socio-economic development axis: skills development and employability (especially for disadvantaged youth and women) and support for vulnerable children (particularly street children and orphans).
2. Environmental protection: The Alstom Foundation backs projects that aim to raise environmental awareness, safeguard natural habitats, and enhance resilience to natural disasters. This commitment aligns with Alstom’s dedication to environmental protection.
3. Access to mobility. The Alstom Foundation aims to promote economic development in communities by enhancing mobility for both people and goods, enabling remote and disadvantaged areas to access local markets, education, healthcare, and other essential services.
4. Access to energy and water. Access to energy and water is crucial, as 17% of the global population lacks electricity and 9% lack sanitation. The Alstom Foundation is committed to addressing these challenges, improving living standards in remote communities through access to these basic amenities.
Role of the Alstom Promoter Alstom Foundation Grant Program
- For project submissions, an NGO must collaborate with an Alstom employee serving as the Project Promoter.
- The Promoter will assist in project preparation, validation, and monitoring if selected. Each Alstom employee can support one project submission annually.
- If you have a project idea but lack an Alstom contact, the Secretariat may help identify a Promoter. However, this process takes time, with a deadline of March 24, 2024, for requests.
- The Secretariat does not guarantee a Promoter for every submission, as Promoters are volunteers who engage based on project interest.
Alstom Foundation Grant Program Criteria
Projects must align with the Foundation’s key objectives, benefit the public interest, be located in Alstom-represented countries, have measurable outcomes, be realistic within budget and timelines, involve local stakeholders and teams, and be executed by competent personnel.
