Applications open for YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program–Cohort 47
Applications are currently being accepted for Cohort 47 of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program. This program, initiated by the United States Government, aims to train the next generation of African leaders in various fields such as business, entrepreneurship, civil society leadership, and public sector management.
To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Age: Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application submission.
2. Citizenship and Residence: Applicants must be citizens and residents of one of the following countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, and Burkina Faso.
3. U.S. Citizenship: Applicants must not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
4. Visa Eligibility: Applicants must be eligible to receive any necessary visa to Ghana.
5. English Proficiency: Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English.
The selection process for Cohort 47 (Online) of the YALI RLC West Africa will be conducted through a merit-based, open competition. All eligible applications will be carefully reviewed by a selection panel and shortlisted. Shortlisted applicants will then undergo an interview before the final selection is made and invitations to join the program are issued.
The selection panel will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:
1. Showcased leadership in public service, business and entrepreneurship, or civic engagement.
2. Actively involved in public or community service, volunteerism, or mentorship.
3. Ability to collaborate effectively in diverse groups and respect differing opinions.
4. Strong social and communication skills.
5. Possess an energetic and positive attitude.
6. Demonstrated knowledge, interest, and professional experience in the chosen sector/track.
7. Committed to utilizing leadership skills and training to benefit their country and/or community after the program.

Tracks:
1. Business and Entrepreneurship: Designed for emerging or aspiring entrepreneurs aiming to assume leadership roles in the private sector or establish their own business ventures in Africa.
2. Civil Society Management: Geared towards individuals engaged in civic activities and those aspiring to serve the public through non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, or volunteer work.
3. Public Policy and Management: Tailored for individuals working or aspiring to work in government at any level, regional organizations like the African Union or the West Africa Community, international organizations such as the United Nations, or other public-minded organizations or think tanks.
Benefits:
1. Participants will receive certificates and become members of the YALI Alumni upon completion of the program.
2. Participants will undergo various forms of leadership training to equip them for leadership roles in their respective fields.
