Applications open for the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program. Established in 2017, this initiative aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders in business journalism. The program offers a transformative educational experience for journalists from various media backgrounds worldwide. Participants will spend approximately 12 weeks on our Hyde Park campus, engaging in class audits, attending Stigler Center events, collaborating with fellow journalists, and networking with esteemed scholars from the university.
We encourage journalists with several years of experience, strong English proficiency, and a keen interest in enhancing their understanding of political economy to apply.
The Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program application period for the Spring 2025 program, scheduled to take place from approximately March 19 to May 31, 2025, will open soon.
Program Highlights – Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program
The Stigler Center Journalists in Residence program features exclusive seminars, opportunities to learn from distinguished faculty, and the chance to connect with peers globally. Key details include:
– Reimbursement for economy-class airfare to and from Chicago, as well as SEVIS and visa application fees
– A stipend of $14,000 to assist with living expenses during the 12-week duration
– Training in business fundamentals at Chicago Booth
– Participation in seminars and workshops at Chicago Booth and throughout the university
– An opportunity to contribute to the ProMarket publication
– Collaborative opportunities with Booth faculty, students, and fellow participants
– A designated study area
– A certificate of participation awarded upon successful completion of the program.
The stipend will be subject to a tax withholding of up to 14 percent for participants from international locations.
Program Requirements – Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program
Participants in the Stigler Center Journalists in Residence Program are required to:
Audit three courses
Attend classes, engage actively, and fulfill all assigned readings and tasks
Take part in Stigler lectures, lunches, social gatherings, and other events suggested by the center
Sign a letter of agreement with the center to confirm mutual understanding of the program guidelines and expectations
