Applications open for the StarNews Business Competition (cash Prized up to N5million)
African video streaming platform StarNews Mobile and the Global Black Economic Forum (GBEF) have issued a call for entries for the launch of the StarNews Business Competition.
Organized by StarNews Mobile and GBEF in collaboration with MTN and the United Nations Agency for International Development (USAID), this initiative aims to support Nigeria’s most promising SMEs with grant funding and partnership opportunities in the United States.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to win cash prizes of up to NGN5 million (US$4,000) from StarNews, access to a network of investors, and exposure on the StarNews web platform. The top three winners will also receive coaching from GBEF’s Academy for Advancing Excellence and become part of GBEF’s global network of leaders dedicated to social and economic justice within the Black Diaspora.
Taking place over a 10-week period, the competition will be hosted exclusively on the StarNews Biz Channel on the StarNews platform, providing a platform for up-and-coming entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses and gain national exposure. Applications are now being accepted.
Eligibility: StarNews Business Competition
1. The business must be majority-owned and operated by Nigerians, with at least 50% ownership.
2. The business must be registered in Nigeria and possess a valid Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) certificate.
3. The majority of business activities should take place in Africa.
4. A web and/or social media presence with a minimum of 1,000 followers is required.
5. The business must have been operating formally for a minimum of 2 years, with consistent turnover during this period.
6. The business should contribute directly to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and generate positive impacts for Africa.

Prizes: StarNews Business Competition
1. First Prize: N5,000,000 (Five Million Naira)
2. Second Prize: N3,000,000 (Three Million Naira)
3. Third Prize: N2,000,000 (Two Million Naira)
4. All participants will have exclusive access to StarNews’ extensive investor network, which will open doors to further growth and success opportunities.
5. Furthermore, mentorship will be offered by the Global Black Economic Forum Academy.
