Applications open for the NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships ($750,000 Grant)
Applications are currently being accepted for the NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships. This National Institute for health and Care research (NIHR) fellowship is designed for mid-career postdoctoral researchers and aims to establish a career path for Global Health researchers from the UK and low and middle income countries to become leaders in the field. The fellowship is open to postdoctoral researchers at all stages of their career.
Funding Grants: NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships
The NIHR Global Advanced Fellowship provides funding of £750,000 for research projects, training, development, and institutional capacity building.
Eligibility criteria: NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships
- Eligibility criteria for the fellowship include holding a relevant PhD or postgraduate medical research degree
- Having submitted a thesis for examination at the time of application.
- Applicants must not already hold a Professorship/Chair at the time of application
- For clinical applications, completion of relevant pre-registration training is required.
- Additionally, applicants must be employed by a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or Research Institute in a LMIC or the UK, and their research must directly benefit patients and the public in countries on the OECD DAC list.
Institutional requirements: NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships
- Researchers based in LMICs
- If you are employed by a Higher Education Institution (HEI) or research institute in a LMIC:
- – The institution must be capable of providing appropriate academic support throughout the duration of your Fellowship.
- – The institution should demonstrate recent research awards and a history of research funding.
- – You may consider involving other LMIC partner organization/s.
- – The research outcomes must directly address the health and care challenges faced by LMICs.
Researchers based in the UK: NIHR Global Advanced Fellowships
- If you are hosted by a Higher Education Institution (HEI) in the UK (England and the Devolved Administrations):
- – You must have at least one partner organization in LMIC(s).
- – The research outcomes must directly address the health and care challenges faced by LMICs.
