Applications open for the Development Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Training Programme.

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 Development Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Training Programme.. The Development Bank of Nigeria (DBN) places great importance on capacity building and is dedicated to enhancing the capacity of Nigerian MSMEs. This is done to assist them in formalizing their operations, expanding their businesses, and becoming more attractive to lenders, thereby facilitating easier access to credit.

This year, we are introducing the DBN Learning Management System (LMS), a free online learning platform that offers a wide range of self-paced courses. The LMS is open to all Nigerian MSMEs who are interested in acquiring the necessary knowledge to thrive in the Nigerian business landscape.

Furthermore, DBN will be selecting the most promising businesses to participate in face-to-face training sessions. These sessions will provide an opportunity for businesses to apply key principles to their specific operations, engage in discussions, and receive targeted support in areas where they require assistance. All participating businesses will have the chance to present their business value proposition, and a select few will be chosen to receive grant funding.

Eligibility Criteria: Development Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Training Programme

– The business owner must be 18 years of age or older.
– The business owner must be a Nigerian citizen or legal resident.
– The business must be based in Nigeria.
– The business must be for-profit and can belong to any sector.
– Applicants must be available to commit to the training schedule if accepted.

– Bankability: The readiness of the business to access credit.
– Feasibility and Sustainability of the business model.
– Scalability: The potential for business growth and job creation.

Training Format: Development Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Training Programme

  1. The programme will utilize a blended learning approach, combining virtual and in-person training sessions.
  2. The training program is designed in a blended learning format, combining virtual and physical training methods.
  3. Virtual Training: The virtual training consists of a comprehensive curriculum divided into 9 modules, covering basic business principles. It will be delivered through the DBN learning management platform of the BizAid App, allowing participants to learn at their own pace.
  4. Onsite Training: This is an intensive 5-day practical training program that will take place in Lagos, Abuja, and Port Harcourt. The curriculum for this training is tailored to the specific needs of the selected businesses. A total of 350 businesses will be shortlisted to participate in this training.
  5. Pitching Session: All businesses that participate in the training program will have the opportunity to pitch their business value proposition. From these pitches, 25 businesses will be selected to receive grant funding of N500,000 each.

– Face to face training in Abuja: Date: 31 July – 04 August
– Face to face training in Lagos: Date: 14 August – 18 August
– Face to face training in Port Harcourt: Date: 25 August – 01 Sept.

Application Process: Development Bank of Nigeria Entrepreneurship Training Programme

  1. To apply for the training program, all interested businesses must submit their applications online through the designated application portal. It is mandatory for businesses to register on the DBN BizAid application and complete a minimum of 4 courses on the BizAid Learning management platform. These courses include Accounting & Bookkeeping, Sustainability for MSMEs, Marketing and Sales Techniques, and Credit Management/Access to Finance. A minimum average score of 70% must be obtained in these courses.
  2. Businesses that complete the 4 mandatory courses by September 23rd will receive an email with a link to apply for the face-to-face training. Upon submission of the application form, a confirmation email will be sent to the applicant within 24 hours.
  3. Applications will be screened and shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria. The selection process will be carried out after the application period closes.
  4. Successful applicants will be contacted via email using the email address provided, as well as through a phone call to the phone number provided on the application form.
