AAI is delighted to announce the commencement of the Africa Adaptation Initiative Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance. This initiative, hosted in Lome by Sustainable Solutions for Africa (SSA) and funded by USAID, seeks to involve graduates, postgraduates, and early-career young professionals from all African nations in the crucial field of climate finance.

The Africa Adaptation Initiative (AAI) was established during COP 21 in Paris with the primary objective of addressing the pressing need for climate change adaptation in Africa. Introduced in 2015 by African heads of state, AAI functions as the African Union’s primary vehicle for climate change adaptation.

The Young Professional Programme on Climate Finance presents a distinctive opportunity for graduates, postgraduates, and early-career young professionals from all African countries to actively participate in the vital field of climate finance. Hosted in Lome by Sustainable Solutions for Africa, the program is specifically designed to provide participants with hands-on experience, exposure to cutting-edge projects, and the chance to contribute to climate change adaptation efforts across the African continent.

The Youth Professional programme will contribute to advancing Africa’s adaptation implementation agenda by enhancing the continent’s capacity to effectively mobilize and utilize climate finance. Successful candidates will work closely with the SSA team and serve as a Technical Partner for AAI. As part of the program, participants will also have the opportunity to engage with the AAI Adaptation Finance Academy, gaining exposure to real-world climate finance projects. This immersive experience aims to equip young professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to make significant contributions to climate adaptation in Africa.
