Applications open for the 2024 Internet Society Mid Career Fellowship

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2024 Internet Society Mid Career Fellowship. This fellowship is designed to provide leaders with the necessary skills to navigate through volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) environments, recognizing the influence of the Internet on their purpose, livelihood, and organizational objectives.

The Mid Career Fellowship is a unique opportunity that grants 15 Fellows exclusive access to top-tier educational institutions and experts during a seven-month program running from June to December. It aims to equip global mid career Internet advocates with the knowledge, abilities, and resources needed for inclusive, innovative, holistic, and strategic leadership.

Fellows will engage in five modules featuring live lectures, assessments, and a culminating symposium to present their work. The program also includes seminars on topics like digital geopolitics, leadership in VUCA environments, advocacy and communications, practical case studies, and cross-sector networking.

The key content areas covered include Internet Critical Properties and Enablers, Digital Transformation and Key Internet Issues, Digital Futures and Strategic Foresight, Systems and Design Thinking, and Leadership and Decision-making.

Eligibility Requirements: Internet Society Mid Career Fellowship

Candidates must be mid career professionals in leadership roles within the Internet ecosystem, working in technical, policy, economic, or social capacities. They are encouraged to apply if they:

– Have a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including leading or managing teams and projects in the Internet field.
– Currently work in a position or organization addressing digital challenges or undergoing digital disruption and transformation.
– Are eager to solve problems, collaborate in multi-stakeholder and multi-disciplinary teams, and acquire new knowledge and skills.

In addition, candidates must:

  • Have reliable access to broadband Internet connection and relevant devices.
  • Be able to fully participate in the seven-month experience which requires a commitment of approximately six hours a week.
  • Have a proficiency level in verbal and written English.

How to Become a Fellow

  • Candidates are to complete the Online Application Form.
  • Candidates will be reviewed confidentially through a multi step evaluation process done by the selection committee. The committee will aim to achieve geographical, professional and gender diversity in the selection.

Timeline:

  • 6 March 2024: Application submission opens
  • 27 March 2024: Application submission closes
  • April – May 2024: Fellows selection completed
  • Early June 2024: Cohort kicks off
  • Mid-December 2024: Symposium held
