Applications open for Scratch Education Collaborative Program (Cohort 4)
The Scratch Education Collaborative Program, introduced by the Lifelong Kindergarten Group, aims to address the limited access and opportunities for creative computing in underrepresented communities. The program envisions reallocating the resources of the Scratch Foundation to prioritize marginalized communities and local organizations that support them. By doing so, the program aims to create a sustainable network and models that promote equity-centered creative computing resources and learning experiences.
The Scratch Education Collaborative (SEC) is a two-year program that involves organizations from around the world. These organizations participate in a collaborative cohort experience, which helps them enhance their understanding and implementation of equitable creative coding using Scratch and ScratchJr. Through a series of co-developed and co-facilitated learning experiences, SEC participants work towards establishing a self-sustaining community of practice and developing models for equity-centered creative coding resources.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applications are open to non-governmental/nonprofit organizations, public schools, school districts, nonprofit universities and colleges, and other government entities. However, for-profit institutions are not eligible to participate in this program.
Social enterprise organizations can submit an application, but their eligibility will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The evaluation will consider their alignment with the SEC vision and their ability to provide free programming or cater to specific communities.
To be eligible, organizations must align with the SEC Vision, currently use Scratch and/or ScratchJr, and have the capacity to support equitable creative coding activities that engage marginalized and historically underrepresented communities.
SEC events and communications primarily use English as the language of communication. However, interpretation services can be provided upon request.
Each organization must have at least one representative, with a minimum commitment from one representative and the involvement of the Executive Director/CEO or another high-level administrator.
