Applications open for Renew Capital Fund for Tech-Enabled Startups in Africa
The Renew Venture Lab provides startups with the opportunity to access a knowledgeable investment team throughout Africa, experienced executives in the startup industry, as well as partners and investors from all over the globe.
Renew Capital is an early-stage investment firm that operates across Africa, employing an innovative approach. We collaborate with development partners to stimulate entrepreneurial ecosystems in Africa, and we invest in early-stage African businesses through our global investor network, the Renew Capital Angels.
Benefits
- Startups that are chosen will have the chance to participate in the Renew Venture Lab, a series of training sessions designed to prepare their companies for potential investment.
- The Renew Venture Lab offers a combination of online and in-person training, which includes coaching sessions conducted by the Renew Capital team.
- Startups that make it to the final selection in the Renew Venture Lab will be given the opportunity to present their ideas to our investment committee.
- Renew Capital invests between $50K and $300K in companies that have been selected for investment and have successfully undergone due diligence.
- As these companies continue to expand their businesses, they may be eligible for larger funding rounds from Renew Capital’s follow-on fund.
Who we’re looking for
- Growth-oriented founders of tech-enabled, asset-light companies in Ethiopia, Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Sudan and Mozambique.
- Exceptional startups in other countries may also be considered at the discretion of the Renew Capital team.
- Companies that have traction and that are raising their first rounds of capital.
