Applications now open: YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program

Applications are currently being accepted for cohort 51 of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program. The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) was established by the United States government as a key initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of leaders across Africa.

The YALI Regional Leadership Center West Africa seeks young individuals aged 18 to 35 from Togo, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Cameroon, and Sierra Leone who are eager to take on leadership roles and are committed to effecting positive change in their nations.

Requirements – YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program

The selection process for the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program is based on merit and is open to aspiring young leaders from West Africa who fulfill the following criteria:

– Must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application,
– Must be citizens and residents of one of the following countries: Ghana, Nigeria, Togo, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Liberia, Sierra Leone, The Gambia, or Burkina Faso,
– Must not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents,
– Must be eligible to obtain any necessary visa to enter Ghana, and
– Must possess proficiency in reading, writing, listening, and speaking English.

Upon completion of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders program, participants will receive certificates and gain membership in the YALI Alumni network. They will undergo various leadership training sessions designed to equip them for future leadership positions in their respective fields.

Business and Entrepreneurship
This module of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program is designed for emerging or prospective entrepreneurs who aim to assume leadership positions within the private sector or establish their own business initiatives across the continent.

Civil Society Management
This module of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program is intended for individuals who are currently engaged or wish to engage in civic activities, serving the public through non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations, or volunteer efforts.

Public Policy and Management
This part of the YALI RLC West Africa Emerging Leaders Program is specifically crafted for those who are employed or seek employment at various levels of government (including elected roles), regional entities such as the African Union or the Economic Community of West African States, international organizations like the United Nations, or other organizations and think tanks focused on public interests.
