Applications now open for the ICANN80 Fellowship Program
Applications are now open for the ICANN80 Fellowship Program, an opportunity for the next generation of individuals to actively engage in their regional communities and shape the future of global Internet policy. The ICANN organization is seeking enthusiastic participants who are interested in Internet Governance and the future of the Internet.
Eligibility
- To be eligible for the NextGen@ICANN program, you must be enrolled as an undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral student and
- Be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the time of the ICANN meeting.
- You should also be currently living and studying in the region where the respective ICANN meeting is taking place. ICANN’s meetings rotate through five geographic regions: Africa, Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Pacific.
- If selected, you will have the opportunity to attend the ICANN meeting and required events. As a NextGen participant, active participation is expected from you.
- Additionally, you will be required to present a 5-10 minute project at the meeting, which can cover various topics related to ICANN’s work or your own research and affiliations.
Benefits
The benefits of participating in the NextGen@ICANN program include having all travel expenses, including airfare and accommodations, booked and paid for by ICANN directly. ICANN will also provide a stipend of up to US $500.00 to offset reasonable individual expenses.
Criteria for Selection
When evaluating applicants, we consider the following factors:
1. Demonstrated interest in ICANN and the Internet ecosystem, which can be shown through current work, activities, participation in public dialogue, and research conducted online.
2. Clear expression of how participation in the NextGen@ICANN program would benefit the individual and their broader community, such as their university, country, or region.
3. Ability to articulate their views on an Internet topic effectively within their application.
4. A strong desire to become an active member of the ICANN community.
5. A proven track record of sustained interest in topics related to ICANN’s work.
6. A genuine eagerness to engage and enhance their understanding of ICANN’s work within their region.
