Applications now open for the ECOWAS Immersion Program for young Graduates
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2025 Economic Community of West African States ECOWAS Immersion Program. This initiative is a one-year internship designed to facilitate the professional integration of young graduates. It provides interns with the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of ECOWAS programs while allowing them to contribute to the effective execution of the institution’s programs and activities.
Eligibility Criteria – ECOWAS Immersion Program for young Graduates
Candidates eligible for the 2025 ECOWAS Immersion Program must fulfill the following requirements:
– Young graduates from ECOWAS Member States, aged 32 years or younger.
– Must be a citizen of an ECOWAS Member State.
– Possess a certificate at the Bachelor (BSc), Master, PhD, or an equivalent level.

The Ecowas Immersion program offers several advantages, including:
– The opportunity to immerse oneself in the services of regional institutions (including Agencies, Departments, and Resident Representations).
– Establishing a framework that enables young graduates to actively participate in the implementation of significant ECOWAS programs across various Departments, Agencies, Representations, and Institutions.
The Immersion Program for young graduates within ECOWAS institutions spans a duration of one year, with a maximum period of 12 months, and is non-renewable.
1. Required Documentation for the ECOWAS Immersion Program
Candidates must submit a formal request addressed to the ECOWAS Commissioner responsible for Human Development and Social Affairs. This request should articulate the candidate’s motivation, areas of interest, preferred profile, desired immersion location, and a commitment to adhere to the program’s terms and conditions.
Additionally, the following documents are required:
– A Curriculum Vitae in PDF format.
– A copy of a national identity card or passport, submitted in either PDF or JPEG format.
– A copy of academic certificates or their equivalent, also in PDF format.
The positions available for the program are determined in collaboration with ECOWAS Departments and reception structures prior to each session, enabling candidates to apply based on the expressed needs of these entities.
For the year 2024, there are 100 internship positions available as detailed in the attached list.
The selection of participants for the Immersion Program will be conducted by a Technical Selection Committee. Only those candidates who are selected will be contacted regarding the subsequent steps in the process.
CONDITIONS OF THE ECOWAS Immersion Program for young Graduates
- All conditions pertaining to the program are outlined in the attached Terms of Reference.
- Young graduates will gain professional experience through their participation in ECOWAS programs, which will aid in their career advancement.
- These graduates will also play a role in the execution of ECOWAS initiatives.
- The program will take place within the Departments, Agencies, Permanent Representatives, and Institutions of ECOWAS, or any other locations officially designated by ECOWAS.
- Upon completion of the program, the young graduate participants are required to produce a report in three copies: one for the HDSA Department, one for the relevant user department, and one for the personal records of the graduate.
- The practical details of the program will be established in coordination with the reception structure.
- Selected young graduates must participate, either in person or online (for those residing outside Abuja), in any informational or feedback meetings organized by the Program Coordinator.
