Applications are open for Lens Based Incubation Programme 2024 ($10,000 grant)
The Lens Based Incubation Programme is dedicated to fostering the development of creative ideas and transforming them into successful products and businesses. By embracing the artistic, technical, experimental, and innovative aspects of lens-based approaches, participants have the opportunity to create new and meaningful visions of Africa. Additionally, participants have the chance to win up to USD$10,000 in seed funding.
During or after the programme, participants are provided with the necessary support and resources to establish their own Lens-Based Creative Businesses. This includes assistance in business development, finance management, branding and communications, legal matters (IP), website and platform development, and product development.
MAD House by tikera Africa is a Creative Incubator, Accelerator, and Research Institute that is committed to knowledge sharing and the cultivation of essential components for growth.
The selection process for the programme involves a meticulous evaluation by a panel of experts. Only the top twenty profiles will be chosen based on the following criteria:
1. Creativity: Applicants should showcase their unique artistic vision and how it pushes boundaries within lens-based spaces. Emphasis should be placed on originality, unconventional approaches, and fresh perspectives in their portfolio and motivation statement.
2. Innovation: Applicants should demonstrate how their work explores new techniques, technologies, or storytelling methods within lens-based spaces. Any groundbreaking or experimental elements in their creative practice should be highlighted.
3. Social Impact: Applicants should articulate the potential impact of their work on audiences, communities, or the field of lens-based media. They should explain how their creative vision can evoke meaningful change or provoke thoughtful engagement.
4. Commercial Potential: Applicants should highlight the scalable business they aim to establish and outline their strategies for its operation. They should describe how the business will not only support job creation but also contribute to economic development.
Eligibility
● Applicants are to be between 18- 35 years
● Applicants must be digitally literate
● Applicants ideas must be Lens based
● Applicants must dedicate time to develop their ideas between January 15th and April 30th, 2024
