Application open for the Yale Young Global Scholars Program
The application process for the 2025 Yale Young Global Scholars Program is now underway. This program is designed for exceptional high school students from across the globe, providing an academic enrichment experience. Each summer, participants from more than 150 countries, including all 50 states of the United States, engage in a two-week interdisciplinary session on Yale’s historic campus. Eligibility – Young Global Scholars Program
| Age | Be between the ages of 16-18 years old by July 20, 2025 (first day of Session III).* |
| English Fluency | Be able to participate in a rigorous academic curriculum conducted in English. |
| Grade Level | Be a current high school sophomore or junior (or international equivalent). |
| Graduation Date | Be graduating in May/June 2026 or 2027 from the Northern Hemisphere, or in Nov./Dec. 2025 or 2026 from the Southern Hemisphere. |
| YYGS Participation | Be a first-time participant in YYGS. If you have participated in a YYGS session during a previous summer (2024 and prior), then you are not eligible to participate during YYGS 2025.Please note: If you previously applied to YYGS but were not offered admission or were unable attend AND you meet the eligibility criteria noted above, then you are encouraged to re-apply for YYGS 2025. |
Required Application Components:
Yale Young Scholars Global Program YGS conducts a comprehensive review of all applications. Our team recognizes that applicants come from diverse backgrounds and possess varying educational and extracurricular experiences. Consequently, the essays and short answer responses hold significant weight in the application process.
All applicants are required to submit the following components:
– A list of activities
– One essay of 400 words and one response of 200 words
– Two brief responses, each limited to 280 characters
– An official school transcript
– One recommender who will complete the YYGS Recommendation Form exclusively
– An application fee of $75 for Early Action or $90 for Regular Decision
– It is essential to click the Submit Application button on the “Review” page for your application to be considered.
OPTIONAL: English proficiency test scores (TOEFL or DuoLingo)
OPTIONAL: Need-based financial aid.
