Climate Champions Youth Fellowship Program for 2024 now open

The Climate Champions Youth Fellowship Program Team is currently seeking out the fourth group of ambitious and determined Youth Fellows. This initiative provides a platform for young professionals to collaborate with the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions for COP28 and COP29 – H.E Razan Al Mubarak and Ms. Nigar Arpadarai – to bring tangible progress to the UN Climate Change negotiations.

As a participant in the Youth Fellowship program, you will play a key role in mobilizing climate action among non-State entities to meet the objectives of the Paris Agreement, in partnership with the UNFCCC, the Marrakech Partnership, and the COP Presidencies.

In order to achieve our goals for COP29 and beyond, we are thrilled to introduce Cohort 4 of the Youth Fellowship.

During the seven-month fellowship, fellows will focus on:

– Core Campaigns: Race To Zero and Race To Resilience
– Systems Transformation: crucial sector-specific work in Finance, monitoring signs of change
– Engagement with Stakeholders and Policies
– Strategic Communications

The program will feature modules on personal leadership development, mentorship, engagement with stakeholders, systems mapping and horizon planning, mobilization and outreach in wider networks, including close collaboration with local, regional, and global youth organizations to ensure the exchange of knowledge and solutions. Fellows will also have the opportunity to collaborate on projects and outreach efforts as a collective group.

Paid Fellowship Programme:

Time commitment: The fellows selected for this programme will collaborate closely with the sector leads and will be expected to dedicate 16 hours per week.

Duration: The fellowship will span seven months, starting from June and concluding in December 2024.

Who should consider applying?

If you are an early- or mid-career professional, aged 18 or above but under 30 as of January 1st, 2024, and possess a track record of engagement or expertise in the thematic areas covered by the fellowship, as well as a history of advocating for climate or sustainability, we strongly encourage you to apply. Familiarity with multi-stakeholder organizing is also desirable.

Eligibility criteria:

– Applicants must be 30 years old or younger as of January 1, 2024 (minimum age requirement is 18).
– A minimum of five years of full-time work or volunteering experience in one of the fellowship sectors, climate leadership, or organizing is required.
– The ability to commit a minimum of 16 hours per week to the fellowship is essential.
– Strong communication skills are necessary.
– Self-motivation and flexibility are crucial, as fellows will collaborate with teams across different time zones.
– An adequate network relevant to sector-specific or climate-related work is preferred.
– Proficiency in the English language is required.
– Applicants must have their own laptop and reliable internet connectivity.
– A commitment to the values of the Climate Champions Team in raising non-State actor commitments to the global goals of the Paris Agreement is expected.
