2024 Vickie Remoe Prize for Journalism and New Media is accepting entries
Applications for the Vickie Remoe Prize for Journalism and New Media in 2024 are now being accepted. Eligibility: Citizens of Sierra Leone must reside there. Applications from women and people with disabilities are encouraged.
Vickie Remoe Prize honors outstanding, unique, and creative new media content makers and up-and-coming journalists. Winners are chosen by the Vickie Remoe Prize Board. Annually, the winners will be declared in April.
Prizes
- Each year, the following prizes in journalism and new media will be given out.
- News writing,
- photography,
- television broadcasting, and
- content production are the four categories.
- Male and female applicants will share the number of awards in each category.
- If no man or woman files a finalist application in one or more categories, the reward will be carried over to the following year.
- nLe. 200,000 is the maximum prize sum that will be given out in 2024.
Qualifications
- Each applicant must be a citizen of Sierra Leone and a resident of Sierra Leone.
- Nominees for the news writing prize may have more than five years of professional experience.
- The remaining categories—photojournalism, film, and content creation—are not included.
- No matter how experienced they are, newspaper candidates are not eligible to apply.
- The participating age is unrestricted.
- Applications from women and individuals with disabilities are highly welcomed. Vickie Remoe’s immediate and extended family members are not excluded.
- Employees of Vickie Remoe & Company as well as their families are not eligible.
Conditions & Terms
- The Vickie Remoe Prize requires your address, email address, and name.
- In order to submit the work to this competition, the entrant must attest that they are the only owner of the copyright to it or that they have permission from another owner to do so.
- The Vickie Remoe Prize acknowledges that each entry belongs entirely to the participant’s copyright.
- In order to facilitate the awarding of the prize through the Vickie Remoe Prize and for potential future publicity and marketing reasons for a maximum of five years, applicants must agree that the Vickie Remoe Prize may utilize any media submitted to the competition.
- Any expenses related to applying for this prize will not be covered by the Vickie Remoe Prize. It’s a free application. Your internet data and any additional costs you may incur to complete this application are not our responsibility.
- For any reason, entries that are too late or incomplete won’t be accepted.
